Thomas Goode is a partner and one of the founders of Goode, Hemme & Peterson. Mr. Goode’s practice emphasizes real estate litigation, broker liability, financing, leasing, sales, land use, zoning and development, business litigation and transactions, collections, contracts, and employment law. With a concern for the escalating legal costs in today’s economy, Mr. Goode works hard to provide his clients with the best possible service for a reasonable fee. He is exceptionally skillful at finding creative solutions to solve legal problems promptly, thus avoiding long protracted disputes which only serve to increase costs. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Goode was involved in real estate development, mortgage banking and commercial brokerage. His “real world” experience, combined with his legal background, makes him a valuable advisor to his real estate and business clients who appreciate his practical approach to their legal issues.

Mr. Goode has a unique background. A former U.S. Army Officer of distinction (established in top three percent service-wide for grade), Mr. Goode received extensive training and experience in the design and implementation of military-oriented training programs as an Operations Officer for an Intelligence Company and as a Company Commander. His active duty tour also included extensive involvement with high-level, classified signal intelligence culminating in award of the Meritorious Service Medal. His work history also includes serving as Vice President/Operations of a real estate development firm and a management consulting firm. While associated with the consulting firm, Mr. Goode filled the position of trainer for the Marine Corps Communications Skills Workshop in which he taught the art of persuasive speaking to Marine Corps recruiters.

Mr. Goode earned his law degree from Western State University and a BA from the University of Notre Dame. His study of law was distinguished by the American Jurisprudence Award for contracts and selection to the Law Review. On the undergraduate level, Mr. Goode’s research on experimental psychology was published, and he was selected to teach Introductory Psychology in his senior year.

Mr. Goode is a member of the State Bar of California, the San Diego County Bar Association and he has served as legal counsel for two prominent children’s charities. One is the local chapter of Cystic Fibrosis chairing major fund-raisers and the other is Fresh Start Surgical Fits, Inc., in which he served as Chairman of the Board. Project Fresh Start is a charitable non-profit California corporation which provides reconstructive plastic surgery for indigent deformed children without charge. Additionally, Mr. Goode has served as legal counsel to or chaired other local non-profit boards including San Diego Child Abuse Prevention Foundation and Notre Dame Club of San Diego. A long time resident of San Diego, Mr. Goode is devoted to his family, plays golf and tennis for recreation, and coaches little league baseball.
