C. Rogers, Esq. While in college, Michael spent his summers working for the U.S. Forest Service as a fire fighter including a season as a smokejumper parachuting into remote wilderness fires. Now he fights battles in the legal arena instead of the forests. The “in the trenches” work ethic Michael acquired as a firefighter, as his clients and opponents would unanimously agree, makes him an excellent advocate. Michael’s practice is uniquely focused on the representation of new and pre-owned automobile dealers and affiliated businesses such as automobile service centers, flooring lenders, warranty providers, and surety bonding companies. Michael provides advice and counsel regarding regulatory and statutory compliance issues, , and general business advice with a view towards avoiding expensive litigation. However, when litigation becomes unavoidable, Michael is well qualified to represent dealers and affiliated businesses in automotive related litigation and administrative proceedings, including product defects, violations of California consumer protection statutes, Vehicle Code violations and DMV, BAR, and SBOE investigations and audits. Michael’s extensive knowledge in this highly specialized area of law is a valuable asset to his clients and permits him to deliver cost effective legal services. In addition to his automotive law specialty, Michael handles transactional and litigation matters. His business transactional matters include corporate, partnership and limited liability company formations and consultation. Michael has considerable experience in business asset sales, real property acquisitions, and commercial leases. In litigation matters, Michael represents clients involved in personal injury claims, construction defect claims, fire claims, unfair business practices/trade secret violations and UCC litigation. Michael attended the University of San Diego School of Law and received his Juris Doctorate in 1995. Michael is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California, including the Central and Southern Districts of the United States District Court. He is a member of the San Diego Bar Association, San Diego New Car Dealers Association, California United Auto Dealers Association, National Auto Dealers Association, and is active in the San Diego Host Lion’s Club. Michael is married and has two children, lives in Pt. Loma, and is an avid outdoor and jeep enthusiast.
