Mr. Heaton attended law school at the University of San Diego where he graduated in 1981 and was subsequently part of the faculty, teaching legal research and writing.  Since joining the firm, he has concentrated his practice in employment law, estate planning, personal injury, civil litigation and appeals. 

Mr. Heaton served as an arbitrator for the San Diego Municipal and Superior Courts for several years. He is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in California, Hawaii and Texas and is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

He worked on behalf of the unsecured creditors committee in the Braniff Airlines’ bankruptcy proceedings.  Other representative clients included Pepsi, Home Depot, Kentucky Fried Chicken and the City of Chula Vista.

He has served on the Board of Directors of the Diamond Gateway Chamber of Commerce, USD Law School Alumni Association, Scripps Ranch High School Football Boosters and Wheaton Illinois North High School Alumni Association.  He currently resides in Scripps Ranch.
