Attorney James W. Peterson specializes in civil litigation and appeals in the areas of business law, contracts, financing and real estate matters. His business and real estate background includes experiences as an owner/principal of a mortgage banking firm where he consulted on and placed construction, permanent, and joint venture financing for a wide range of commercial projects, including retail centers, apartment complexes and office buildings. Clients (and juries) appreciate his ability to analyze and translate technical issues into plain language. In these times of escalating legal costs, his cost-effective, result-oriented approach to litigation saves his clients both time and money.

Mr. Peterson has an impressive background in communications and advocacy. As an Army Officer, he distinguished himself while on active duty by being selected as Strategic Intelligence Advisor for General Alexander Haig, who was then serving as Supreme Commander for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Among other noteworthy accomplishments, Mr. Peterson was General Haig’s speech writer and research assistant, advising him on matters of international importance before the U.S. Congress. He has written articles published in Time, U.S. News & World Report, Nations, and The Armed Forces Journal.  Since his departure from the U.S. Army, Mr. Peterson has served as a management consultant training Marine Corps recruiters on the art of persuasive speaking.

Mr. Peterson is a member of the State Bar of California and is licensed as a California Real Estate Broker. He is an honors graduate from Western State University School of Law, his study of law being distinguished by multiple awards in national Moot Court competition for Best Brief and Best Oralist. He holds graduate degrees from Princeton University (in International Relations) and Boston University (in Business Administration). Additionally, Mr. Peterson is an honors graduate of the United States Military Academy.
